The Best Stain For Pine // How to Avoid a Blotchy, Uneven Finish
Staining pine doesn't have to be such a pain. I tested popular oil-based stains, water-based stains, and gel stains to see which is actually the best stain for pine - and it's probably not what you'd think. Plus I’m sharing how several popular stain colors really look on pine.

    How did you paint the mdf? Everything I read it’s kind of tricky since it’s so absorbent and sensitive to water? Also, do the wood fronts along the edging slightly hang over the mdf edging or line up exactly?

    So, just to understand, if we put the mod podge on first, then we would be painting over the mod podge instead of the wood, correct? I'm not sure I quite understand. Thank you!

    • @LovelyEtc
      @LovelyEtc 22 дні тому

      Hi. After putting your stencil in place, but before stenciling, you can paint a thin layer of Mod Podge over the top of the stencil. This helps keep the stencil in place and eliminate any leaking. Then you go ahead and paint. Hope this helps!

    • @user-xd5so5qh7j
      @user-xd5so5qh7j 17 днів тому

      @@LovelyEtc Thanks! Sorry, but just one more clarification, please . . . When you paint the thin layer of Mod Podge over the top of the stencil, it's as though you are just outlining the letters on the top edge, right? You don't want any of the Mod Podge to actually touch the wood that you are eventually going to be stenciling with paint, right? I guess my question is, if you're just painting a thin layer of Mod Podge over the top of the stencil, I don't see how it makes a difference with the stenciling that is going to be coming up, or what happens underneath the stencil. Thanks!

    All of it was secured with the Brad nailer? Did you screw the middle part to the wall?? Also did you do anything not shown for it to hold the weight of the clothes?? I’m doing this in my walk-in so I’m still confused on some things lol

    • @LovelyEtc
      @LovelyEtc 22 дні тому

      Hi. The middle part is secured to the sections with pocket holes. I added four pocket holes to the underside of each shelf. Then I used pocket screws to screw each shelf to the side. The middle supports will support most of the weight of the shelf but to keep it stable, we also need to add another support to each end wall. You may want to check out the step-by-step written tutorial here www.lovelyetc.com/how-to-build-a-diy-closet-organizer/

      Do NOT use envirotex. It is one of the epoxies that would yellow super fast. Within months. You want an Art Epoxy such as UV Art from Promise or maybe Stone Coat which contains UV blockers and would last a few years. These will still yellow over time. All epoxies will yellow.

    I struggeled to cut this mylar espeially the details ..i think plastic is best way to go...i print with acrylic paint right out of the tube. This acrylic paint tends to strengthen the heavy poster board i use plus once dry becomes water proof and less likely to tarè easy.. im thinking once this wet side dries start printing on theback side to seal this back side as well. Acrylic is a kin to plastic and has a lot of the same advantages that plastic has. 4:56

    How long did you wait for the chairs to dry after cleaning them with water?

      It dries pretty quickly, especially outside in the sun. Plus, I wiped it with paper towels after, so just about 15 minutes.
